READING:
Children will bring home three books, one will be there Monster Phonics book which they should be able to read an adult, the other should be a colour banded book which has been chosen by the child. They will also choose a reading for pleasure book from our library.
Please ensure that children are reading at least 4 times a week - this needs to be noted in their reading diaries and signed.
Rewards will still be given at the end of each half term for children who are reading 4 times or more each week.
Reading diaries will be checked every Friday morning.
In June, the children will complete a phonics screening test. They are required to read 40 words, which are a combination of 'real' and 'alien' words. Reading at home with your child will support them with this.
Forest School & PE:
Forest school will take place once every two weeks in our designated Forest School area!
This sessions will take place on a Friday and gives the children the opportunity to explore the natural the environment around them.
In order for children to make the most out of their sessions, please ensure they arrive to school with the correct kit (refer to Reading Diaries)
The children WILL get muddy.
We aim to head out into Forest School in all weathers so please make sure children have the appropriate kit.
Every Tuesday, children will be taking part in P.E. sessions. Please make sure they come in the correct kit. This needs to be plain black trainers, a white polo top and plain, dark bottoms and jacket. On the weeks we do not have forest school, the children will take part in an extra PE session, they will their PE kits every Friday.
HOMEWORK:
We expect the children to read a minimum of four times a week at home. This needs to be recorded in their reading diaries.
In the front of the reading diaries, there is a copy of the end of year maths goals. Children need to be confident with these before they finish Year One. You can practice these at home with your child to support their learning at school.
