READING:
Children will bring home three books, one will be there Monster Phonics book which they should be able to read an adult, the other should be a colour banded book which has been chosen by the child. They will also choose a reading for pleasure book from our library.
Please ensure that children are reading at least 4 times a week - this needs to be noted in their reading diaries and signed.
Rewards will still be given at the end of each half term for children who are reading 4 times or more each week.
Reading diaries will be checked every Friday morning.
In June, every child will complete a Phonics Screening Check. This check consists of 40 words and are a combination of real and 'alien' words. Children need to get around 32 correct to pass. In class, we have phonics lessons every day, so children will be as prepared as possible for this! We ask that you support your child's learning at home by reading with them as much as possible.
Forest School & PE:
Every Tuesday, children will be taking part in P.E. sessions. Please make sure they come in the correct kit. This needs to be plain black trainers, a white polo top and plain, dark bottoms and jacket.
HOMEWORK:
We expect the children to read a minimum of four times a week at home. This needs to be recorded in their reading diaries.
In the front of the reading diaries, there is a copy of the end of year maths goals. Children need to be confident with these before they finish Year One. You can practice these at home with your child to support their learning at school.
